Photon-Counting X-Ray Technology to Be Showcased at IBIE and Pack Expo

Vancouver-based ABM Equipment will showcase Eagle Product Inspection’s photon-counting x-ray technology at upcoming industry trade fairs IBIE and Pack Expo, inviting processors to test the system with their own products.

The technology, branded PXT, was first introduced four years ago by Eagle, a company credited with developing several of the primary applications of x-ray inspection in food processing, including item counting, checkweighing, dud detection and fat analysis. Initially limited to select machines, PXT is now available across most of Eagle’s product line and will be demonstrated in the 430 PRO model at IBIE.

While ABM Equipment will feature the system at booth N-5733 during IBIE, Eagle will also display it at booth N-7610 at Pack Expo. Both companies are encouraging manufacturers to provide product details in advance so that tailored demonstrations can be prepared.

“PXT has nearly doubled what’s possible for the industry,” said Sam Cassa, X-Ray Sales Manager at ABM Equipment. “Some people just want to detect contaminants half the size, and some people don’t want to go smaller, but they’d like to halve the number of false rejects.”

Founded more than 50 years ago, ABM Equipment provides engineering solutions in material handling, processing, packaging and inspection. The company delivers equipment selection, sales, system integration, maintenance and customisation services to industries including food, pharmaceuticals and chemicals.
