Asteria Group has acquired East Midlands printer ProPrint Group, strengthening further its position in the UK market.

It marks the fourth British acquisition by the labels and packaging company since the recent takeovers of Berkshire Labels, CS Labels and Compliance Labelling Solutions.

“This acquisition becomes a powerful addition to the Asteria group,” Asteria’s CEO Ives Declerck said.

Declerck added: “This move strengthens our leadership position in the UK and our further commitment to more circular, efficient, and sustainable labelling solutions across Europe.”

Founded in 2011, ProPrint Group is a packaging printer headquartered in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire with three sites in total in the Wellingborough area, operating across 7,246sqm.

In the financial year ending September 2024, it had an annual turnover of roughly £22m, according to Companies House.

In a statement on LinkedIn, ProPrint Group said: “We are excited to become part of the Asteria family, combining our UK expertise in labels, linerless technology, and cartonboard packaging with Asteria’s extensive European network and innovation-driven culture.

“We look forward to working together as the same personable, responsive team you know so well, now with boosted capabilities and innovation scope - particularly when it comes to efficient, sustainable labelling and packaging solutions.”

Commenting on what the acquisition will mean for its customers, ProPrint Group noted stronger sustainability, by aligning with Asteria’s goal to make 90% of its products sustainable by 2030. Along with complementary strengths and shared values, expanded capabilities with access to Asteria’s 36 sites across Europe, and operational resilience.

The company added: “This partnership is a perfect fit - and it’s just the beginning of a stronger, greener ambition for packaging across Europe.”

In April this year, Asteria acquired Dublin business Label World, continuing its acquisition path and expanding its European labelling and packaging portfolio.

In an interview in June, Declerck said the group’s major objective is to become “the number one local partner in the European labelling and packaging market”.

Asteria is a labelling and packaging print company established in Belgium in 1985. It now has 36 sites across Europe and is headquartered in Gullegem, Flemish Region.
