High-density, Quick-dry PET-based Screen Printing Film Delivers Sharper, Smudge-free Positives

Nanjing, China — Koala Paper, a leading brand in digital printing media established in 2002, today announced the launch of its new screen printing film designed for inkjet output. This transparent PET-based film is engineered for high-precision plate making, combining a specially formulated waterproof coating with a durable polyester (PET) base to solve common challenges in screen printing workflows.

The film features a microporous coating that absorbs water-based inks, preventing ink spread or smudging after printing. It dries quickly to produce ultra-sharp, high-density images with virtually no bleeding. Made from polyester, the film's base offers excellent flatness, mechanical strength, and optical clarity—ensuring it lays flat during exposure and creates deep-black, high-contrast positives essential for screen printing plates. The optical density (OD) remains consistently above 3.0, while the quick-dry and anti-curl design improves light-blocking capability and overall plate-making efficiency.

"This inkjet film utilizes our proprietary waterproof microporous coating and supports both dye-based and pigment-based inkjet inks," said Richard Liu, Product Manager at Koala Paper. "It is compatible with mainstream prepress inkjet printers, including Epson models. Even under heavy ink coverage, the printed positives remain sharp, dry fast, and resist bleeding or smudging. Compared with other films on the market that deform or require rework in humid conditions, our film's integrated base and coating design enhances moisture resistance and ink load tolerance, reducing production waste and unpredictability."

Structurally, the film uses a robust 140 g/m² PET base that ensures excellent dimensional stability and durability. This allows it to maintain its shape even through multiple prints or prolonged UV exposure. A controlled haze level of approximately 13±2 delivers superior image contrast and deep blacks, meeting the demanding clarity and density standards of professional prepress workflows.

In addition to traditional screen printing applications, this waterproof inkjet film is highly versatile—it can be used for UV exposure, flexographic printing, pad printing, engraving templates, and PCB circuit imaging. It offers reliable plate-making support across various industries and excels in maintaining consistent image density and positional accuracy in complex workflows.

The waterproof film is now available on the Koala Paper official online store, with global wholesale and custom sample requests open to businesses worldwide. As an ISO 9001 and FSC-certified company, Koala Paper enforces strict environmental and quality standards throughout its production process. The film is manufactured using a solvent-free coating method, aligning with Koala’s ongoing commitment to sustainable development.
