Two Konica Minolta digital presses replaced three AccurioPress C6100 machines

CFH Docmail has installed two Konica Minolta AccurioPress C14010 digital presses at its Livingston site, upping its production capabilities.

The first of their kind to be installed in the UK, the two digital presses replaced three older AccurioPress C6100 models and provided an upgrade, in-line with the company's long-term growth strategy.

Steve Cray, CFH production director, said the business was looking for technology to meet current needs and to help scale up for future growth. This includes the upcoming launch of the company's online print store, Print Lover, which aims to put a shopfront on the work it does, with a soft launch in August.

Installed in April, the toner presses will be used at the Scottish site to produce a range of premium, fast turnaround print materials, including business cards, calendars, booklets and marketing collateral.

The AccurioPress C14010 features inline finishing, advanced automation, and robust quality control. Cray said the press stood out for its "performance, broad media capabilities and reliability" and said it will improve operational efficiencies.

Machines were tested from other suppliers, but these presses came out on top, CFH told Printweek. Training and after-sale care were other winning factors.

With increased duty cycles and automation features like duplex registration and automatic media detection, it is hoped the new machines will improve uptime, reduce waste and lead to greater throughput, particularly during peak production periods.

Reflecting on the impact of the new instalment, Cray explained: "This investment strengthens our production capability at a critical time of growth."

"For our customers, it means faster turnaround times, enhanced quality control and more choice, all produced seamlessly in-house with end-to-end quality control."

The install reflects the start of a broader strategic relationship between both buyer and supplier, in line with CFH's expansion into new service areas.

CFH Docmail employs around 300 staff and has three sites across the UK in Radstock, Livingston and Windsor.

At the end of 2023, CFH made multiple investments in Xerox technology at its Radstock site, including an Iridesse digital press, a Versant 4100 digital press as well as the FreeFlow Core and FreeFlow Vision workflow products.
