Label Express Boosts Digital Label Production with Cartes Platform
Label Express, a division of Labo Printing, has invested in a Cartes Gemini GE362WL
Polish online label printing specialist Label Express, a division of Labo Print, has invested in a Cartes Gemini GE362WL laser die-cutting platform to enhance production efficiency and quality. The move marks a significant step in the company's strategy to scale its digital label operations and respond to growing demand.
Label Express was established as part of Labo Print's expansion into digital label production. Since its launch in 2013 with just five employees, Labo Print has grown to over 450 staff. The Label Express division was formed to meet the increasing demand for fast, high-quality custom label production, supported by investments in narrow-web inkjet printers and laser cutting technology.
"Our standard production time is three working days, but we can deliver much faster when needed," said Sławomir Góral, managing director of Label Express. "A fully digital workflow lets us work directly from customer files and avoid the delays of traditional die-cutting."
While laser die-cutting initially offered flexibility for a wide variety of label types and materials, early experiences highlighted some challenges with cut quality and automation. After evaluating alternatives, Label Express chose the Cartes Gemini system for its features and modular design.
"The Gemini platform stood out for its automation, modularity, and unique technologies like Invisible Laser Cutting (ILC)," Mr Góral added. "It enables high-precision cutting, especially on dark-coloured prints, and Cartes continues to innovate in ways that align with our growth plans."
Working closely with LFP Industrial Solutions, Cartes' local distributor, the company installed a dual-laser configuration with several advanced modules. These include the IML system for individual sticker production, ACO (Automatic Change Over) with barcode reader for seamless job switching, and the ATR-360 turret rewinder for automated job separation.
Cartes' export sales manager, Natalia Tšamorina, noted that Gemini was developed with complex use cases in mind. "Online print businesses like Labo Print are driving new standards. Our platforms are built to meet these demands, with integrated solutions that serve both large and smaller operations."
Labo Print's CEO Krzysztof Fryc said the label segment is a growing focus for the business. "We're handling over 100,000 orders a year, and with partners like Cartes and LFP Industrial, we’re confident we can keep scaling efficiently," he stated.
