Norwegian label converter Digital Etikett has installed a new 540mm web width Digicon Series 3 finishing system from A B Graphic International (ABG), expanding its production capabilities. The investment continues a 17-year relationship between the two companies, during which Digital Etikett has acquired a total of eight ABG machines.

The new system joins the company's existing 330mm and 430mm Digicon models and has been installed to support increased production volumes. Designed to meet growing demand for wider digital print formats, the 540mm Digicon is compatible with Digital Etikett's 510mm Durst digital press.

Digital Etikett's factory manager Øyvin Tørvi said the machine has integrated well into the company's workflow and noted that its level of automation helps address ongoing labour shortages in the industry.

The installation also includes ABG's new Automatic Matrix Stripping (AMS) module, which is currently patent-pending and scheduled for official launch later this year. The AMS is intended to reduce material waste and streamline the finishing process.

The Digicon Series 3 is a modular platform that can be tailored to different production requirements. The 540mm model supports a variety of optional modules, including ABG’s Big Foot 50-ton hot foil and embossing unit, which is used for high-end decorative finishes.
