Release paper and film manufacturer Cotek Papers has invested in a new Universal X8 slitter rewinder to enhance its technology c.

The new machine has been running at the 51-staff company's premises in the Cotswolds since February, when it was installed.

Designed for efficiency, the Universal X8 was additional to equipment already running at the company's Moreton-in-Marsh, Gloucestershire site.

Cotek Papers was bought by German company Laufenberg in 2021.

Cotek Papers managing director Karl Gater said: "Our aim is to increase the efficiency, reliability and quality of our products so that our customers can purchase the best release liners on the market.

"With the full backing of our parent company Laufenberg GmbH, this is the largest equipment investment made at the UK site in over ten years.

"The X8 provides unmatched productivity whilst maintaining ease of use, and with the machine's advanced integrated systems the team has been able to further improve internal efficiencies."

Release liners are used in numerous applications such as the manufacture of adhesive tapes, composite materials, wound dressings, graphic films and many other industrial products. They are used by end customers in the automotive, aviation, electronics, industrial tapes, and medical technology industries.

Gater added: "This investment is of strategic significance to us, as it strengthens our focus on creating innovative solutions for release liners and meeting our customers' requirements, particularly in terms of sustainability: our new slitter/rewinder is considerably more energy-efficient than our existing converting lines."
