Children's Book Green Printing Innovation Exchange Meeting Successfully Held

On 15 November, the Children's Book Green Printing Innovation Exchange Meeting was held at the 11th China Shanghai International Children's Book Exhibition, and the on-site launch of the Chinese and foreign children's book printing industry chain modernisation comparative research project.


The event was guided by the Printing and Distribution Bureau of the Central Propaganda Department, and jointly organised by the China Printing Technology Association, Global Press and Publishing Development Co. and the China Children's Book Printing Innovation Industry Alliance.

Zeng Yuan, Director of the Printing and Distribution Division of the Propaganda Department of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee, said in his speech that the publication quality of children's books is crucial, and an excellent children's book needs to take into account both the publication content and printing quality. Nowadays, green printing has become the consensus of the whole industrial chain of publishing and printing, which is an important guarantee for children's books to achieve printing quality and environmental safety. For the future of the motherland, for the printing industry high-quality development, the need for publishers, printing companies, raw material suppliers, equipment manufacturers, party and government departments, associations and the whole society to work together, so that the green printing to take care of the children's tomorrow, restore the original flavour of the book.


Cao Zhenya, deputy director of the Central Propaganda Department's Organ Service Centre (Information Centre), said that holding the children's book green printing innovation and exchange activities during the Shanghai International Children's Book Fair is an important measure to promote the children's book industry's governance at source, high-quality development, and openness at a high level. In accordance with the requirements of digital empowerment and information transformation, the Central Propaganda Department's Organ Service Centre (Information Centre) will actively provide the publishing and printing industry with services such as system development, data sharing, standard development and activity organisation, and work with industry colleagues to draw a new chapter in the development of children's books in China.


Chu Tingliang, executive vice president of the China Association of Printing Technology and chairman of the China Children's Book Printing Innovation Industry Alliance, said that the China Association of Printing Technology will join hands with industry colleagues to promote the innovation and development of green printing of children's books with more enthusiasm and more pragmatic action to provide a safer and healthier reading environment for children. Specifically will promote the work of the three parties. First, strengthen innovation and cooperation and exchange. Encourage and support publishing and printing and industry chain related enterprises to increase research and development, and promote the continuous innovation, upgrading, sharing and application of new technologies, processes and materials for printing children's books; Second, improve the standard and evaluation system. Promote the establishment of a sound system of technical standards for children's book printing, clarify the technical requirements and evaluation indicators, and promote the improvement of children's book printing level through standard leadership; Third, strengthen policy protection and financial support. Strengthen communication with industry authorities, and actively provide more policy guarantees and financial support for the innovative development of green printing of children's books, and encourage publishing and printing enterprises to develop and produce more children's book products that meet market demand.


In the communication and sharing session, representatives of Shanghai Children and Teenagers‘ Publishing House, Redbird Publishing Limited of the United Kingdom, Heshan Astros Printing Co., Ltd. and Suzhou KD Education Technology Co., Ltd. respectively shared their views on how to promote the green and innovative development of children's books through strengthening the construction of industry standards, overseas children's books’ design and innovation ideas, children's books' printing innovation practices, and the research and development and application of green inks.


The project was initiated by the Printing and Distribution Bureau of the Central Propaganda Department, and implemented by China Printing Technology Association, Global Press & Publication Development Co., Ltd. and China Children's Book Printing Innovation Industry Alliance, aiming to conduct a comparative study on the modernisation history, current situation and future development trend of the children's book printing industry chain in China and abroad, so as to provide valuable reference and data for the development of China's children's book market.
